Program Overview

Extracurricular Program

Students form a team and learn about NGC’s 10 Global Issues. The team then selects a NGC Global Project they want to support throughout the year. Global Projects are locally led, grassroots organizations that are addressing a NGC Global Issue in their community.  NGC vets all Global Projects to ensure program effectiveness and financial transparency. Teams support their Global Project by educating their school and community about their Global Project and Global Issue. Teams advocate to local, national and international leaders to take action on a Global Issue. Finally, Teams raise funds forwarding 100% of the proceeds they raise directly to their Global Projects. Often the team builds a direct relationship with their Global Project.

The NGC Extracurricular Program relies heavily on student leadership, and like other extracurricular programs, typically runs through the school club system. The program is student driven and led. Student team leaders use NGC lessons, activities and guides to lead their fellow students through the NGC program. NGC supports teams through a packaged program, online lessons and activities, and remote staff support in the form of a team mentor.
