Our Impact
IF YOU WANT A BETTER WORLD, YOU MUST INVEST IN THE PEOPLE WHO WILL CREATE IT. There are 71 million young people under the age of 25 in the United States. If we can mobilize this generation to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges, there is no telling what we might achieve. So how are we doing so far? At NGC, we monitor our effectiveness in two primary areas:
2009 IMPACT
· 76 teams launched on high school campuses in 18 states across the country.
· Collectively, the New Global Citizens movement raised $37,000, educated 100,000 community members and launched 35 advocacy initiatives to support 33 grassroots partner projects in 20 countries around the world.
· Youth in McLean, Virginia raised funds to deliver education and vocational training to children affected by the Rwandan genocide.
· Seventeen year-olds in Phoenix, Arizona instigated community forums to gather school supplies, uniforms, and funds to support training for their homeless peers in Los Angeles.
· Teenagers in Miramonte, California met with foreign ambassadors to learn how they can help mitigate the AIDS epidemic in South Africa.
To understand what this kind of support means on the ground, meet some of our Global Partners via the Global Project Menu.
And check out our team stories and partner project stories to witness the individual transformation that occurs when young people realize they have a voice in creating sustainable global change.
AND THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING…
