NGC Criteria

NGC GLOBAL PARTNERS

NGC Global Partners are leaders in sustainable development on both an international and national level and are working on key global issues. Global Partners share NGC's belief that sustainable development occurs when communities and social entrepreneurs are empowered to find solutions to problems that exist in their own communities.

NGC works with Global Partners to connect NGC with Global Projects. Global Partners assist NGC in vetting all Global Projects and have agreed to send 100% of funds raised by teams directly to Global Projects.

Global Partners MUST:

1. Have a positive reputation in their field for having clear commitment to a more just, equitable and sustainable world.

2. Support projects that not only are addressing immediate needs, but also address long term problems through sustainable solutions that will aid communities in achieving self-sufficiency and independence.

3. Work with grantees/partners that are addressing one or more of the Global Issue Areas, and that are working on behalf of populations often overlooked, ignored or marginalized by their own societies or other aid groups.

4. Support local organizations and people that are taking the lead to better their own lives and situations in which local leaders:

  • identified a problem in their community, organized around that problem and found a solution to it.
  • determined where and how the money they receive is spent, capitalizing on their knowledge of the social, cultural, political, and environmental context better than any third party from an external environment could

5.  Support small grassroots organizations where the small, but significant contributions of NGC Teams can have a meaningful impact.

6. Be innovative and respectful in their approach to working with and supporting grassroots organizations. Organizations should also work towards establishing long-term relationships (partnerships) with their grantees/projects that goes beyond just a funding relationship to one that supports capacity building to create sustainable change.

7. Be non-denominational; however that does not apply to the grassroots organizations they support.

8. Provide NGC with information about the grassroots organizations that will allow NGC to connect students to the organization and the community. This information should include the following:

  • Description of the grassroots organization including information on the community’s problem and solution, organizational history, background of leaders, community statistics, and budget
  • Photos and multimedia information (if available)
  • Updates
  • Report as to how NGC team funds were used

9. Transfer 100% of the money NGC teams raise to the grassroots organization without taking any of the funding for administrative costs (the only exception is in the case of fees directly related to transferring the funds). Partner must also provide NGC with documentation to show how the NGC team's funds were transferred to the Global Project. Partners must show evidence of consistent financial transparency.

10. Be willing to support and contribute to NGC curriculum development

11. Be an active participant on the NGC Global Network.

12. Provide NGC with documentation on how the Partner Organization monitors and evaluates each grantee.
