Global Fund for Children

Haitian Circle for Educational Fulfillment and Development (CHEDEVE) provides sports and leadership opportunities, scholarships and dance for children in Fontamara Haiti. After the 2010 earthquake, CHEDEVE provided food and water to 200 children twice a day. CHEDEVE continues to provide daily meals for children affect by the earthquake.

 

CHEDEVE Programs

Soccer and Leadership Program: CHEDEVE started the soccer program after several local gang members were arrested. CHEDEVE uses soccer as a way to inspire young people to think about have to create a safe community. CHEDEVE provides two soccer practices each week and a meal after each session. The meal is important because it reassures parents that after each practice their children would not come home hungry. 

 

Why the Need?

Haiti earthquakeFontamara is located outside of Port au Prince. People living in Fontamara face poverty, violence and inadequate schools. Several neighborhoods in Fontamara have been affected by outbreaks of gang violence. The January 2010 earthquake caused extensive damage to the area. Many residents lost their homes and faced shortages of food and water.

 

 

How Team Efforts Translate to Impact

100% of funds raised by NGC Teams will support CHEDEVE's Soccer and Leadership program by providing staff stipends, nutritious meals and sports equipment.

 

How CHEDEVE Creates Sustainable Global Change

CHEDEVE is providing youth with leadership skills and a safe space away from gang violence and poverty. CHEDEVE is investing in youth and paving the way for a healthy community in which all community members will be able to flourish for generations to come.
