Mubafashee Association Programs
The Mubafashee Association was started by five young women leaders to support young mothers and children in areas around Bujumbura, Burundi.

Leadership for young adults. Young adult leaders from the nearing communities gather for singing,dancing, games, and education of HIV prevention and other medical needs.

Loans and trainings for young mothers. In addition to supporting children, Mubafashee also supports young mothers of the children, many who have HIV. Mothers receive small loans to start their own businesses so they can support their families. The mothers also receive workshops
on basic finances and economic sustainability.
Why the need?

The country of Burundi is a landlocked nation that lacks natural resources and updated manufacturing capacity. A decade long war ended in more than 200,000 deaths, forced more than 48,000 refugees into Tanzania, and displaced 140,000 others internally. The average student only receives 7 years of schooling and the prevalence of HIV is extremely high with one in every 15 adults having contracted the disease.
In addition food, medical care, and electricity are in short supply country. 68% of the population lives below the poverty line causing severe malnutrition and denies access of medical attention.Many of the children in Burundi are suffering from poor nutrition and a lack any health care. Often, these children are children of single mothers with HIV. Many mothers living with HIV find their major source of income as transactional sex, exchanging sex for money and or goods.
How Team Efforts Translate to Impact
All funds raised will support Mubasfashee Association in providing loans to 42 young mothers so they can start their own businesses. Funds will also support these mothers with workshops and trainings on economic sustainability.
$100 provides one mother a loan and training.

Mubafashee Association provides small loans to mothers so they can start their own business which builds the local community. Mubafashee also supports and trains young leaders in their community which builds the future leadership of
communities around Bujumbura.
