The NGC Program

Outline of Program:

NGC Teams can run either as an afterschool club or in the classroom. A team consists of an average of 15 students and 1 teacher advisor. As a team, students learn about 10 Global Issues facing the world:

  • Extreme poverty
  • Universal Education
  • Gender Equality
  • Child Mortality
  • Maternal Health
  • HIV/AIDS and other Diseases
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Economic Sustainability
  • Natural Disasters
  • Armed conflict

Teams determine which issue they feel most compelled to take action on, then select a NGC Global Project to support from NGC’s international partner portfolio. Global projects are run by locally-led organizations around the world that are addressing one or more of the NGC 10 global issues in their community.

Through NGC’s online trainings, activities and staff support, NGC teams take action by educating their local community about their global project, advocating on behalf of the pressing global challenges, and raising the financial resources to effect sustainable change.

At the end of the year, 100% of resources raised are transferred to the team’s global project along with information about the team’s accomplishments. In return, the team receives a thank-you letter from their global project.

The Role of the Teacher Advisor:

  • Start an NGC team at your school
  • Select at least 3 students to participate
  • Guide students through the NGC program
  • Send monthly updates to NGC about the team’s progress
  • Send all funds raised by students to NGC  at the end of the year so we can pass it on to the Global Project
