In partnership with Arizona State University, College of Public Programs (COPP), New Global Citizens has created a seamless transition process for our high school students to pursue higher education. This partnership is designed to approach the recruitment of passionate, committed young leaders from the same recruitment model used for NCAA athletes. Both ASU COPP and NGC strongly feel that scholars to the social sector should be approached with the same level of care, concern, and financial commitment as those recruited to athletics.

COPP houses the degree programs within ASU that serve the public good. COPP has six bachelor’s degrees aimed at giving students hands-on experience throughout their education in the areas of social work, nonprofit management, tourism, parks and recreation, and urban studies. COPP has the only Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management as well as the only Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Metropolitan Studies in the country. This partnership includes direct access for NGC students to ASU COPP staff and current students who are there to guide and assist NGC students with every step of their exploratory process towards higher education. In addition, COPP works directly with ASU Admissions, Scholarships, and Financial Aid offices to ensure NGC students are financially supported should they choose to study in COPP.

Further, the partnership is designed to create a community of NGC Scholars within the ASU COPP community so they may serve as mentors to new NGC ASU students each year. Finally, it is our goal that NGC and ASU COPP will create a new model for transitioning students from high school to higher education, emphasizing that significant investments should be made in actively recruiting, retaining, and supporting students that possess the passion, skills, and desire to work in the social sector. This model is one that is student centered and aimed at continuing the academic, personal, and professional growth of the next generation of global leaders and agents of change.
